Tami's Story
As you all well know I became a mom in my junior year and I believe was the best blessing of my life. I became a single mom in my early twenties and it was amazing how the Lord provided for us such as putting food on the table and a roof over our head. I was then and currently am a travel agent and now part owner of Pomona Travel Agency.
I have been married to my beloved Dennis for almost 13 years now. He is the electrician for the Claremont School District.
My daughter, Shea completed her master's degree in education last year along with being a mommy of a one year old, wife and full time special ed teacher. Not to say much, you must know how extremely proud I am of her.
I am now a grandma of Miss Emma and totally loving it! She is so smart the at 20 months she can sing the full ABC song. She loves to dance and sing and especially loves the Wiggles.
My favorite hobby is traveling along with snorkeling and learning about many destinations and their culture.
My mom is now a single parent to 2 grandchildren and doin...Expand for more
g well. We loved our dad in 2006 and sorely miss him. I ove to go to some of the parks and the front of the Central Community Park which has dad's name (Richard Dahl) as past councilmember and taking part in making the city as it is.
I was a member of the Pomona Jaycees and past president from 2000-2003 when finally someone took over my position. I then joined Pomona Rotary after much consideration. I wanted to find a community service organization that contributed the same or close to as the Jaycees. I had been on the board at the Foundations chair. For those who don't know anything about Rotary, we are the major contributing factor to eradicating polio worldwide. When I was chair there were only 5 countries still with the polio virus. Many reasons because of the violent acts of the Taliban on their own people. They were afraid to come to the center of town to receive the drops. Now the Taliban has agreed to stop killing for a week so the children could receive the medication. Nice of them, huh?
